Brisa's deal, advised by Millennium investment banking, has been awarded with the Europe M&A Deal of the Year by Project Finance International, the prestigious finance publication of Refinitiv (former Thomson Reuters Financial & Risk business). This distinction confirms the capabilities of Millennium investment banking in carrying out relevant transactions with an international scope.
The complexity of the transaction in a pandemic context proved to be very challenging, both in terms of structuring (understanding mechanism between sellers, articulation with all entities involved in the process, identification of potential investors, financial modelling to reach asset's fair value and developing financing structures solutions across Portugal and international markets) and execution (managing a deal in a pandemic context that started simultaneously with the phase of selecting the best offer and reaching an agreement for the transaction). Millennium bcp's contribution, based on the holistic approach assured by Millennium investment banking, was key for success of the deal.
The details of the transaction constitute one of the largest foreign investments made in Portugal over the last years. The acquiring consortium consists of APG, NPS and SLAM.
